Mary Riley
Mary Riley is a dedicated accounting professional who graduated from Walla Walla Community College in 2016 with an Associate of Applied Arts and Sciences (AAAS) degree in accounting, along with certificates in Business Management and Bookkeeping. She began her career in 2015 with Jacks, Rice & Associates. In September of 2018 she moved to Tompkins, Vargas & Associates PS and has continued to grow with the company through a name change. Today, she is a valued member of Mill Creek Tax & Accounting PLLC. In February of 2024, Mary earned her Enrolled Agents (EA) license, further solidifying her expertise in tax matters. Outside of her professional life, Mary enjoys riding horses, gardening, traveling, and spending quality time with her family and friends.
Daniel Tompkins
Daniel Tompkins graduated from Eastern Washington University in 1980. He began his career with Le Master and Daniels in Colfax, Washington, and subsequently moved to their Omak office before relocating to Hermiston, Oregon. In May 1986, Daniel opened his first office in Walla Walla, Washington. Over the years, the firm underwent several name changes, and today, Daniel is the Managing Member of Mill Creek Tax & Accounting, PLLC.
In 2008, Daniel earned his master’s degree in accounting, further solidifying his expertise in the field. Outside of his professional life, Daniel enjoys gardening and spending quality time with his grandson. He also has a passion for traveling, which allows him to explore new places and cultures.
Katie Alderson
Katie Alderson is a Staff Accountant at Mill Creek Tax and Accounting, where she supports clients with bookkeeping, payroll services, and a variety of accounting needs. She joined the firm in December 2025 as the newest member of the team. Katie graduated from Central Washington University in 2014, earning a double major in Accounting and Business Management with a specialization in Supply Chain Management. Her academic background and experience in bookkeeping and payroll allow her to bring accuracy, organization, and a client-focused mindset to every engagement.
Mill Creek Tax and Accounting is a deeply family-oriented firm, built on the collaboration of two families working side-by-side. Katie’s father, Dan, co manages the business with his business partner, Mary; both of their families play active roles in the firm. With her mother, Annette, and Mary’s mother, Kristi, contributing to the team—and her brother, Adam, joining the firm in recent years—Katie is proud to be part of a close-knit environment centered around trust, teamwork, and long-standing relationships.
Outside the office, Katie enjoys spending time with her four-year-old son and is a devoted Disney fan.
Adam Tompkins
Adam Tompkins is a Bookkeeper at Mill Creek Tax & Accounting, where he supports accurate financial recordkeeping and day-to-day accounting operations. Having been with the firm for one year, Adam has quickly developed strong bookkeeping skills and a solid understanding of tax and accounting processes. He is currently studying to become an Enrolled Agent, demonstrating his commitment to professional growth and providing high-quality support to clients. Adam is known for paying close attention to detail, and bringing a dependable, motivated approach to his work. Outside of work, Adam enjoys going to the movies, playing the occasional video game, and hanging out with friends & family.
Annette Tompkins
Annette Tompkins began her career in the accounting industry as a secretary in 2002. With over two decades of experience, she currently serves as the office manager for Mill Creek Tax & Accounting PLLC. Annette has a passion for all things Disney and cherishes spending time with her children and grandson.
Kristi Norton
Kristi Norton embarked on her career in the accounting industry as a bookkeeper in 2004, working for Daniel J. Tompkins CPA until 2007. She then ventured out to start her own successful bookkeeping business. In July 2021, Kristi returned to work for Daniel Tompkins at Tompkins, Vargas, & Associates, and following a company name change, she now serves as a bookkeeper for Mill Creek Tax & Accounting PLLC. Outside of her professional endeavors, Kristi enjoys gardening, fishing, and spending quality time with her family and grandkids.
